Default Think about it carefully, and if you still want it, do it

Took a gap year, did a masters. Didn’t regret a single moment of it.

However, it’s more driven by personal reasons than furthering my career. If you take a masters with the sole purpose of boosting your career, you MAY end up disappointed. Do your math and you’ll find that the opp cost, school fees and overseas living expenses are higher than an imaginary or projected salary increase.

So I’ll encourage it if the motivation is something other than money - life experience, a break to recuperate from burn out, personal development etc.

That said, CHECK YOUR FINANCES AND LIFE SITUATION before doing it. Do NOT do anything that will put you in debt. If you are attached or have a family, ask them for their input. Otherwise you’ll come back with worse mental health/burnout/regrets.
