you are sharp, but not sharp enough to realize it's deliberate.

a famous opposition member said this too:

"All you have to do is to dissolve organizations and societies and banish and detain the key political workers in these societies. Then miraculously everything is tranquil on the surface. Then an intimidated press and the government-controlled radio together can regularly sing your praises, and slowly and steadily the people are made to forget the evil things that have already been done, or if these things are referred to again they’re conveniently distorted and distorted with impunity, because there will be no opposition to contradict."

Every year-end, I will hear fellow colleagues (permanent staffs) taking about how they are going to use the bonuses to go for a trip to Europe, buy an Xbox 360 for their kids, go dining in a fancy restaurant, make the payment for a new car,... etc.

I can only keep quiet and listen to them talk. Not able to participate. It's a very lonely experience.

Worst thing is that most native Singaporeans are contract workers and foreigners are permanent staffs.

Anyone knows how much bonus does companies in the insurance industry pay their non-agent employees? AIA, Prudential, Great Eastern, NTUC Income, etc.
