Close call in terms of everything you're looking for because they are localised now. But I would give Citi the thumbs up because they have a better name and are american.

From investment banking standpoint, HSBC has been trying for decades to break into equities without success, after spending hundreds of millions. So I pin it down to brand recognition.

Since the industry and roles are same it doesn't matter which job you take, the bigger package the better. Though if the packages were about the same, then i would go for Citi as they have a better local retail branding compared to HSBC and also more people working in Citi means that there would be more career growth opportunities as compared to a smaller bank.

Aiya why care about what ppl say? Like someone said beforehand, there'll be ppl around who try to say negative thing or bring you down. Just do what you like.

You know, some people might be those who didnt get the particular job haha.

not sure if this will help you....i actually went for interviews with both banks before.

impression i get is that people in hsbc are more friendly and the way they do things are more organised....at least how they handle all my rounds of interviews....prob UK based.

citibank seems more impromptu....some of the interviewers not as nice but they expect alot from you. citibanks seems more generous with remuneration and benefits though
