what is there to think & plan? get a few offers first and then evaluate them, this is like whole day planning what you will do when you strike toto, it will not even happen in the first place.

you think as if you are the one in control of picking which job you want to accept, in reality with a average cv, you are at the mercy of whoever feel like offering you. your action will be driven by who offer you, not who you want to accept.

hard truth.

as for playing shares, if you dont have much unless you go margin + derivative which is high risk, no matter what it will not earn much

I've more or less figure out that i will be seen as more of a marketing communications fellow in the retail & F&B industry, would companies requiring product marketing personnel consider me? when i have like 3 years of experience?..by then ,yes i would have my expectations on salary..but i kind of anticipate that i may not be offered the desired remuneration since i do not have any real experience in product marketing although i have a marketing degree while the experience i have accumulated is more on marcom.

So its a choice of getting the desired experience and getting lower pay or advancing with something similar with higher probability of upgrading my remuneration?

Zalifah Maybe what you can do is to sit down and think of what you want to achieve in 5-10 years' time and what you can see yourself as by the end those years. Honestly speaking, most of us dream of getting a lot of money and retiring early. Quite impossible in the current situation since no job is ever a "secure job".

Have you heard of people who make money work for them? That kinda work requires a different kind of skills, not those taught in school. And it's better to work as your own boss rather than to work under a boss.

Unregistered 5k very easy to hit in a few years, many marketing associates in global MNCs are already paid 8-12k and managers up to 20k depend on experience.

I think the problem is more of your expectation, you need to be more realistic and not expect progression like a MAP associate in a MNC.

If you can get 3.5-3.8k when you are 30, combine with wife this is enough to buy a BTO and live life decently. My advice is don't need to be hung up over some random number like 5k before settling down.
This is the most sensible post so far.
