Unregistered | Nearing the end of your contract, if there is still a continued need for your role and your performance has been good, you’ll likely receive an extension of contract. If the project has ended, there will not be an extension. If a position in your department opens up due to a perm staff resigning and you apply for it, you’ll be evaluated against both internal and external candidates. The hiring manager and final approver have their pick of candidates to choose from. These include scholars, first class honours graduates and people with more experience in the field than you. Given such stiff competition, you should weigh how you stand in the pool of candidates. You should also know if you were hired to work on a short term project, there will not be a permanent opening to apply to once the project ends. | |

Almost zero chances of converting to govt contract. Even for govt short term contract, there is zero chance of converting to normal contract/ perm. This means there is no salary increment, benefit and bonuses, ending up you will feel unbalanced and unfair when working alongside with your colleagues. Unless you are currently unemployed, do not go for such job. This same applies to third party contract to big private firms. |
