With a combined net worth of $2.4 mil means each of you has a net worth of $1.2 mil each. You and spouse are both millionaires. This must mean you are in the top 1% among married couples.

There are so many millionaires in this forum. Is this forum only for millionaires?

Relocation to Singapore

Hi,
8k per month is it a good to switch from India having 40lpa to Singapore??

Unregistered 23-06-2019 08:33 PM

When u calculate networth, do u include the house u r living in? We did. And with S$2.4 mil networth I don't think we r top 1% of married couples.

There are 183,000 millionaires in Singapore.
There are 5.6 mil people living in Singapore.
So % of millionaires is 3.2%.
So for couples who are both millionaires,
this should be 3.2% x 3.2% = 0.1%.

You are right, couple millionaires are not in top 1% but
top 0.1%! Wow!

36 years old this year... Currently on 200k odd p.a. Prefer to stay HDB and relax. Head not big enough for private property.

Have been in Banking industry or related industry since ORD.

Currently not in bank anymore but more like a vendor supporting banking system, not a big company, just a small local startup.

Before I left the bank (US bank), i am on 150k p.a exclude bonus etc. It was a cushy job except the long hour (you reap what you sow). Reason why I left is because I knew I am unable to progress much faster because banks, being banks, like to groom their management associates into top role. I do not have any good degree (distance learning) to compete with people with high class honors from NUS etc. Disheartened after a while because after all the hard work you put in, these MAs just package it up and gain the credit.

Left with a heavy heart because i really learn a lot of things in this US bank, no though long hours but you gained a lot of knowledge and get to know a lot of friends.

Just stay in HDB flat. Private property is for the more successful top performing bankers. Better be safe. $200k pa is not much compared to what the top bankers earn.

Hi all,

Just wanted to share with you a sad news about someone who just passed away.
Below 60 years old.

We all will die one day but we don’t know when. So don’t be so obsessed chasing your dream of getting that corporate promotion, that condominium or that nice car. These are all meaningless at your death bed.

Invest your time with your old parents, your children, your spouse, friends and relatives.

Don’t be greedy chasing millions. Do good. Volunteer at charities. Feed the poor, the needy and the orphans.

Life is short. Make a difference to the world.

True....that is why I am semiretired in my 40s so that I can spend more time with my growing kids and my ageing mum. Don't want to die with regrets....hope to join the church in mission trips in the future too.

Balance is key. Chase your dreams but not at the expense of family time.
