What do law firms actually look for when awarding TCs? Will they care about what grades you get for specific subjects i.e. torts or just look at your overall acads? Clueless Y1 local law student here

Depends on the hiring partner. Overall acads are important, but partners from specific practices may also look at your grades for specific subjects.

agree

and the next thing to worry about after getting your grades in order would be your interview skills.

good grades may increase your chances of getting shortlisted for interviews, but if you bomb the interview and don't get offered you're back to square one

On the other hand, if your grades are outstanding, the interview is more like the law firm trying to introduce themselves to you.

Any American lawyers who made the move to Singapore care to share advice, current field of practice and remuneration?

I am currently an associate at a Top 20 law firm, in M&A / Tax. Looking to move to Singapore due to spousal reasons.

Thanks in advance.

If you can get into international law firms that pay at US rate, it will be worthwhile. Otherwise, no.

In general, do the international law firms pay US rate?

Anyone got insider information on how the pay structures at the Big 4 compare to each other for NQ to 3PQE? Would like to see how the front loading component, bonuses and yearly progression differ across firms in 2019.
