"Based on a 2018 report by a committee formed to review the professional training of fledgling lawyers, the proportion of candidates who passed Part A*steadily declined to 64 per cent in 2017, from more than 90 per cent between 2010 and 2014."

How come Part A has no prep course now? I thought NUS used to offer an intensive 3 month Bar prep course: s://law1.nus.edu.sg/cle/partA_bar/partA_bar_faq.html

When was it discontinued?

The lack of rigorous NUS education these past few years is probably why more and more grads fail part A.

True but also hypothetical.

Is the percentage who passed part A still around 64% or higher/lower? Is the difficulty of the paper increasingly yearly? If you fail part A several times before passing, how likely are you to pass part B on first attempt (no resit)? How to study for part B effectively given there are so many papers? Is part B increasingly difficult to pass now?

Around the same. No. How is anyone supposed to answer that? U literally just need to pay attention during class and actually prep for tutorials. It's a 99% pass rate for a reason. Yes it's slowly ramping up.

Bro in my time part B I just skip lectures, never prepare for tutorials, go overseas holiday during the mid break, chat up some fellow part b overseas grad chiobus, and chiong 2 weeks before the exams

Still pass all papers with my eyes closed. All my friends too. Dunno how it is now though

What’s wrong?
New York bar pass rate only 33% for overseas grads.
UK solicitor exams also barely 50% pass rate.

“Unacceptable failure rate”? Does he not remember who, as SILE Dean AND Company Law examiner in 2016, embarked upon a one-man Thanos-esque crusade to cull half the Part A batch from getting called?

s://.sile.edu.sg/pdf/Part_A_Subject_Coordinator_CV_-_Professor_Walter_Woon_SC.pdf

Ownself create, ownself solve, ownself charge $3k. “Law is a profession and not a business,” he added.

Do you have to declare how many times you retook part a?
