Lol hilarious. A typical Oxbridge discussion above - academic and out of touch with reality that the US schools are miles above Oxbridge in practical terms for reasons already expounded in the preceding pages of this thread.

Apart from academic and employment reputation, QS also depends on citations per paper and the productivity of academics. They call the latter the H-index.

Can you not deduce the parameters of the QS survey yourself?

Punting may be good for research but not so much in practical terms.

QS rankings are not the be all and end all - they put a significant weightage on research, and so the results can be skewed. If you're looking at prestige, and quality of teaching, QS is probably not very useful as a metric.
