SCB, RM, Employee Banking
Dear all,
Have been following this forum awhile back, and it is an extremely good place to get information from all experts out there. A recruiter called, offering a role in SCB. I however have very limited information about it as i am currently in a completely different industry. He mentioned the title will be a RM, in employee banking and is 100% B2B. Anyone have any in-depth idea about this job? Appreciate the time taken out. THank you! |
Sales job. A lot of pretty girls in the department.
What they offer you in terms of salary is also pretty standard... |
Thank you for the reply!
Yes, i understand that its a sales job. Im currently in a sales job too, so thats partly why the recruiter called me. But what exactly do they do? He mentioned that should there be roadshows for the companies, the actual selling to their employee's will be done by another team. So the job is strictly B2B. Any input? |
It's not rocket science, don't worry.
Just learn about their products, go for roadshows and sell to institutional clients. Follow up as per necessary lol. What are they offering you in terms of base + commission? |
so i will be expecting a lot of hunting etc. haha
offering me 2.8 - 3.2 basic, but comms package not in detail.. basically 3 main KPIs to meet monthly, but recruiter said that the comms part will have to be addressed by the employers |
Its a very boring job. Basically you will be talking to company hr staff to psycho them to give you a space in their office to allow your colleagues to run roadshow to sell the salary saving account to their staff. The admin & explaining to staff or filling forms is done by others, but you will be expected to help out in the roadshow.
Another line of biz is to psycho companies/payroll outsourcer to sign up exclusively with SCB so that their payroll is auto credited to the staff SCB account. But this one no hope of success as SCB atms are too little, any co. that tie up with SCB sure kana f8ck upside down by their staff. I would rather go do neighbourhood branch or sme corporate sales then do this. At least that one got hope of meeting kpi & getting at least a bit of incentive. This one how to compete with the local banks esp. DBS/POSB? |
my thoughts exactly.
My initial thoughts when i heard "employee banking in SCB", was that it will be hard to compete with the local banks. Discounting the roadshows, will it be a job based mainly in the office or heading out to meet prospects? My current sales job requires me to head out and this is something i enjoy. I cannot sit at the desk the whole day and just do coldcalling. they have telemarketers for that. haha |

My exp is that although technically this job is B2B, you tend to end up selling to a bunch of very low level hr officers. Truth is those hr specialist/directors wont bother to entertain you for such things except for a 3min introduction. So you must be comfortable with doing sales similar to consumer/retail type to uncles & aunties. |
That is a problem i foresee.
My current job makes me deal alot of PAs, EAs, HR Managers, Office Managers etc. I will be very comfortable dealing with them, but what Im doing now is strictly corporate and the product is not consumer/retail stuff. Will be a totally different ball game. Decisions Decisions. I know the pay isnt everything, but the pay jump is very tempting |
