Civil Service Payments
Year End Annual Variable Component of 2.0-month for all civil servants The Singapore economy grew by 4.9% on a year-on-year basis in the fourth quarter of 2014, unchanged from the growth recorded in the preceding quarter. Global economic growth is expected to improve in 2015, supported by continued recovery in the US and the Eurozone. In Asia, while the ASEAN economies are likely to remain resilient, China’s growth is expected to moderate slightly in 2014. Amidst this global backdrop, the Ministry of Trade and Industry forecasts GDP growth of 2% to 4% for 2014. Nevertheless, downside risks remain, such as monetary conditions in the US tightening faster than expected. The overall unemployment rate in Singapore remained low at 2.1% in March 2014. Against this backdrop, the Government has decided to pay a year-end Annual Variable Component (AVC) of 2.0-month. The Government also supports the National Wages Council’s (NWC) recommendation to grant a dollar-for-dollar Growth Bonus to all civil servants. This is over and above the 13th month wage supplement. The AVC and the Growth Bonus will be paid in December 2014. The year-end payments were decided in consultation with the public sector unions. |

Civil Service Year-end Payments
Civil Servants to get year-end AVC of 1.5 months with lower-wage officers getting at least $1,800 The Singapore economy grew by 2.8 per cent on a year-on-year basis in the third quarter, higher than the 2.3 per cent growth in the preceding quarter. On a quarter-on-quarter seasonally-adjusted annualised basis, the economy expanded by 3.1 per cent, a reversal from the 0.3 per cent decline in the previous quarter. Against this economic backdrop, civil servants will get a year-end Annual Variable Component (AVC) of 1.0 months, with lower-wage officers getting an AVC of at least $1,500. This signals the Government’s continued commitment to help lower-wage workers. The year-end AVC payment was decided in consultation with the public sector unions. All civil servants will also get the Non-Pensionable Annual Allowance (NPAA) of 1 month, to be paid in December along with the AVC. |

Civil Service Year-End Payment
Civil servants to get year-end AVC of 0.8 month with lower-wage officers getting at least $1,200 The Ministry of Trade and Industry has forecast that GDP growth will come in at around 3.0% for the full year. This represents a narrowing of the previous GDP forecast of 2.5% to 3.5% announced in August. Growth for the year is expected to be supported primarily by externally-oriented sectors such as manufacturing, wholesale trade and finance & insurance services, while domestically-oriented sectors such as business services are expected to remain resilient. The job market remained tight in the third quarter of 2014, as unemployment stayed low and steady, with employment growth matching the previous quarter. Against this backdrop, civil servants will be paid a year-end Annual Variable Component (AVC) of 0.8 month, with lower-wage officers getting an AVC of at least $1,200. This signals the Government’s continued commitment to help lower-wage workers. Some 980 civil servants will benefit from the minimum AVC payment of $1,200. For example, an officer earning a monthly salary of $1,200 will get a year-end AVC of $1,200. This is $240 more than what he would get at 0.8 month of his monthly salary (which would have been $960). The year-end AVC payment was decided in consultation with the public sector unions. All civil servants will also get the Non-Pensionable Annual Allowance (NPAA) of 1 month, to be paid in December together with the AVC. |

Worse than expected. We in the pte sector can get much more. |

They owe us 0.2 months this year. Next year, unless it is paid back as year old no variable bonus = 1 month + 0.2 (owed from 2014) + 0.2 months (2016 election sweetener), we should help to ensure aljuneid remains "unrepentant".

Sorry I'm not too familiar with civil service bonus, can someone help out?
So does that mean this year there is 1 mth AWS + 1.8 mth AVC + 3mth PB (assume average B- performer)? So in total civil service is paying out 5.8 mth bonus for normal performerer? This is really fantastic if true, makes me want to try my luck applying for a public sector job next year also. |
