Doesnt matter. Singtel is performing very poorly amidst increasing competition and in the long run there will be little progression for the MAs so yeah. Theres a risk of potential restructuring also and guess who eill be targeted first

Already restructuring. Heard the MAP start date got delayed because of that as well.

Exactly. Telco becoming increasingly competitive in SG especially in the recent years. I expect to see restructuring and layoffs soon like what happen to Starhub.

Not a good firm to go into prospect wise.

Unregistered 06-04-2021 02:56 PM

Btw I'm not from Singtel but please do your due diligence. Singtel's more than a telecommunications company, look into its individual business units. It's more of a technology and digital company. Look into its financial statements to see where its revenue is coming from. And yes, the restructuring is ever changing, as it places more emphasis on technological applications

Joke's on you - Their focus is still on their core telco business which make up a huge portion of their revenues.

Looks like whoever sign up for their grad program can look to receive a retrenchment package in 5 years down the road

Bulk of the revenue in the telco business does not come from Singapore. It comes from Australia, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Bangladesh

Singtel or any telco providers are doomed. If you know about satellite technologies, you know what I am talking about. In no way they can compete with those technologies. Internet will be cheap as hell once tech is there.

It still comes from telco. The nature of a telco business is like that one, they often expand globally through acquisition etc.

But at the end of the day, doesn't seem good to be a telco firm in the current environment.

I wonder how many people they will retrench...

uhhh... I think they have shifted their focus towards other products and services like digital banking, 5G, internet of things, cyber security and more...

and they're on a hiring surge???

Nope. Look at their annual report.

Hiring surge now is a poor decision and retrenchment will soon follow.

Look at their stock price. Keep going down. Pretty sad it you invest in Singtel 20 years ago and the trend will continue.

Hahhaa so true. Especially with so much competition in this area.

IoT, 5G, cyber security, they are not the only firm doing this.

They dont have a unique competitive advantage, and are relying only on their brand name now.

I'm going to graduate from the MAP in a few months time.

This time HR says we will be posted to operational related roles first. Promotion to management will depend on performance ratings and availability of positions.

Feels like I got scammed lol.

Yeah for a firm with bleak potential, they are paying very low for their "management" associate, which is just to trick graduates to join only lol

Singtel will create headcount for their MAs one. Don't need to worry about this part. As for non-MAs, it's a different story - no headcount means no headcount.

I think it depends on which grade you fall under... with 2 years of experience (non-MA) I think around mid 4 to 5?

For the July incoming batch of MA, are there people who havent secured a department?
Is it a concern if I have not been allocated a department yet?

I negotiated with the HR given my extensive working experience during uni and pre-uni days and managed to secure somewhere mid-5k. All the best to you hope you can nego as well!

wasnt the pay standard for all MA?

Unregistered 13-06-2021 08:55 AM

Anybody know what is the expected salary after the 2yr program after promoting to P3 (Manager)?

Unregistered 13-06-2021 10:27 AM

Doesn't matter. Worst company to be in especially in their current situation.

Just make sure to actively look for other jobs during ur time as a "management associate", you will be out of jobs in a few years time.
