Hi
I think 4300 is less in spore. I came here in aug 2013 and have now understood the cost of living.
If you r a bachelor, u will need abt 6000 for a decent life. If u r married, u will need about 8000 for a decent lifestyle. Both cases, u will be able to save some money and sendit back home. Spore is a very nice place. Welcomes everyone. Only thing is that DONT spoil the place by littering, spitting etc. Maintain the cleanliness of the place. Lots of foreign workers here at very low levels and hence cleanliness is going for a toss. We need to maintain the cleanliness of this beautiful place. |

We need competition but not a lop-sided one. NS liabilities, CPF, etc. make locals less desirable to the employer. So, we contribute more to our society just to have a harder time, huh? You hear whining but clearly are not smart enough to comprehend beyond the first level of thought. |

Is it the fault of foreigners or someone else (hints *gov*) that singaporeans have NS liabilities, CPF contributions etc. ? If it is indeed foreigner's fault, then I agree, that these bas***ds are on a better level because they have created more opportunities for themselves by making us do *other/irrelevant* work such as NS/contribute to CPF. And so, they will always be ahead of us in competition (with a slight chance that we will catch them in the long run if we work super duper hard or they fck up at their job). But, I hope you will agree that those policies - NS, CPF are not made by these Foreigners but by our own *people*. So, whose fault is it? Who is the one who is pushing us back in competition against these foreginers? Now, lets say, we both agree that foreigners are not the ones who have made NS/CPF policies. They are oblivious to such things. Then why should we blame them? They are just like any other people in the race. The rules of the game are not made by them. It is made by our own people in hint *gov*. The foreigners are just here to compete oblivious to all that is happening in our tiny dot - we should not blame them. Definitely, it is not their fault. |
Insufficient.
Don't come. You'll regret it. |
not really enough, think you need at least 10k to survive here; ask for that. even the cheapest paratha costs $1.20 and it can go up to $3 for town areas. not mention the ala carte rice in most air conditioned food centres, can go up to 7 bucks.
and you will have difficulty finding rental homes, just saw a cna (channel news asia) documentary on discrimination here, there was a foreign indian national complaining about how difficult it is to find a home here; most landlords just told her outright that they don't want to rent to her or either that, a whole host of complaints. you'll need to pay a premium for that. (1.5k - 2.5k) mrt rides here cost 1.50 a pop on average, so you'll burn at least 200 bucks on public transport alone. food supplies wise, a non fried pappadum costs 1.20 on average, coconut milk 2.20 so its not cheap. if you want to send at least 2k home you'll need 10k, ask for that. |
4.3k is decent for 6 yrs of experience. I'm making 6k after 2 years.

$4.3 pm? You must be joking.
$3k pm for condo one bedroom rental $2k pm for food and transport $1k pm for entertainment $2k pm to send money home You need at least $8k pm as a professional |
Jobs for partners' of foreign expats
Hi,
I am soon to be a foreign expat in Singapore and need to search for a job for my wife as well. My wife is a postgraduate (MBA - HR) and carries 4+ years of experience with her - how easy will it be for her to land a job in Singapore as well? Regards. |
real cost of living in Singapore
Hi,
Look at the "real" expenses in Singapore. 1. Rental - if you share a room with 4 others - 600 pm. If your spouse accompanies you and you want a full room - SGD 2400 pm. If you want entire apartment (single room) SGD 3500 pm. Select one of these figures for yourself. 2. Minimum food expenses - McDonalds meals costs approx SGD 7. You will spend at least SGD 500 or more on meals alone. More if you have a spouse. Even more if you want to have some lavish food once in a while. 3. Electricity, water, phone, laundry - SGD 600-800 pm (minimum). 4. Public transport - SGD 200 pm. 5. Something for medical, emergencies, savings, new clothes/shoes once in a while, gifts for home etc. 6. If you have kids - school - SGD 500 pm. Unless you want to share a room with 4 others, have no spouse or kids, you will be in trouble. Also, you may lose your job/visa after 1 year.
