also for pb, seems like only citibank and uob call it personal banker. what does the other banks name their personal banker?

They are called business financial manager or business development manager. Or maybe SME specialist, or SME Hunter.

would like to ask abt SME bankers as well....

i dunno abt other banks but i realise for ocbc, they have business development managers for different roles such as:

- account acquisition
- account opening
- commercial property loans

(and etc i think)...

i thought its all linked so a SME banker should be doing all that right...how come a different person is doing each role separately? do enlighten me cos im new to business banking.

and...which role is the most lucrative or all the same?

Erm account acquisition and account opening are usually done by the same person. Heck account opening is just filling in forms after acquisition. Ya they have SME staff who focus solely on commercial property loans. These are the more specialized ones sell nothing but property loans. Got another group sell nothing but small business term loans.

Best is the can sell everything type, especially trade facilities. Can learn alot from trade.

'account acquisition' means to source for new customers right? so no dealing with existing customers and they dun get to sell other stuffs?

those that can sell everything type, what are they? or need experience?

Enquiry

Got offered a role in KYC.
How's the prospect of KYC?
Job function seems easily outsourced to me as it mainly just involve screening :(

Can someone offer some better insights?

you have answered your own question. but no, it is not easily outsourced as every firm has its own criteria of credit screening. so your job is to monitor them the whole day. maybe u can progress to compliance side, legal side, anti-money laudering side, who knows? regulations are being stepped up every now and then so ur future is bright if you work hard.

imo KYC is an impt function in a franchise, every banks has someone to KYC screening esp after the financial crisis few years back to prevent any forms of fraud. Career prospects are plentiful, u could be in compliance, aml, business risk dept etc

It is not easily outsourced. On the surface, it might seem to you that it is just computer screening but is really more than that. You might have to do a detailed check on the person background (credit checks, transactions monitoring, conducting name matching against list of high risk parties such as terrorist or political ppl). Just take up the job, no harm expanding your horizon :)
