Pls advise... leave or stay?

Hi

I am currently working as a QC Chemist in one of the local pharma companies.

My current monthly salary is $3200 + $500 transport allowance. AWS will be paid at the end of the year (dec) and PB (usu 1-2.5 mths) will be paid in apr. other benefits include 15 days annual leave and medical benefits

I am offered a job as a Asst Lab Manager (mainly doing safety audits which is something I like and is learning) elsewhere and this is what they offered me...

annual package of $45600 which works out to about $3800 per mth (no AWS)... plus any PB that will be paid in Jan... i got 21 days leave here...

so my current package is higher than what they are offering... salary is not longer neg accordingly to HR so should I leave my current job?

What are the career growth paths in both companies. Do you want technical or managerial work? Work environment and colleagues are important factors too.

If you are as young as I presumed you to be, then move to expand your horizon and knowledge. But leave in an amicable way to leave the door open for future return..

You are a chemist and u still ask these type of question?

too much reactions until cannot do maths? JUST LEAVE and here is why:

1) singapore does not reward technical skills, so managerial work is the way to go
2) Fixed remuneration, meaning there is no hijack of pb or any other crap.
3) you will need that 7extra leave when you get older.

Notice I didnt add that higher pay? because that is just a bonus!

Looking at your leave structure and salary structure (no AWS, PB in Jan) New job offer is at NUS?

If so I am able to offer decent advice.

Annual leave is very important! 15 days vs 21 days is 6 days difference. Its substantial. I think if i am in your shoes, I will go for it!

although pay wise similar, overall better off with more leave and doing something i like.

Not too bad if you look at the overall picture.
Stable (assuming they not placing you on contract), regular hours (rarely see lab or nus staff staying late), cheap food somemore. Apart from the 'no-aws' salary structure, working at nus is very civil service-like.

yah, the cheap food is gd... salary they offering me is lower than what im getting now (assuming no PB for both)...

Current = annual package + allowance (47.6k) (though I have been getting 1.5 mths of bonus as ave performer)
now = annual package (45.6k)

but i have verbally accepted n will be gg for medical check up soon... oh well... hope i made the right choice to switch to do safety n lab management (in schs only)...

should never settle for less, unless for better job security or work-life reasons, or you were facing harassment at your current workplace. But if the transport allowance is excluded, your new offer is better. But it's amazing that nus get away with no aws & still managed to hire people in this competitive market for talents.

Having in being the so called E & P scheme in NUS, advice as following :

PB is standard 1 - 2 months. VERY EXCEPTIONAL CASES you will get 3 months but you get the picture.

promotion in NUS is rare unless you are in the one in the million. Looking at your AM role, I would say minimum 5 years before your promotion.

Annual increment 100 - 200 dollars.

VERY PRO work life balance. Essentially you do not have to do much. But ZERO career progression; honest.

Good luck
