If you think he is showboating by carrying 3 teams simultaneously for the hackathon, why don't you try yourself doing it for 4 teams? or even come up with some next level multi disciplinary project?
As for leadership issues, as they say, the mountain can only have one tiger, and definitely it's not up to the DCE to 'step up'. If they wanted the DCE to make leadership decisions then make him the CE already. so currently what you see is the result of the BOG, and not the DCE. The CE is usually selected to be someone the BOG feels they can 'control' and someone too capable may not be ideal for them.
Govtech isn't going to turn into Big Tech simply because the mission and definitely the scale is totally different.

Lol if you see someone signing up for 4 projects then you would know its someone here. Not the best idea. And also for projects, i dont see one that is bottom up successful (ignoring ogp). You need a top down where the director is the one that owns it due to how gvt runs.
DCE may not be the one who okays the PIC, but he is the one who raised it after all. You can say CE and PS being the ones making the decision, but they trusted DCE and his expertise when he proposed it. And for that, he would always be tied to this, regardless of what happens to PIC in the future.
As a prominient private sector hire(and hes not full private with some of his involvement in stat boards and glc), he poisoned the well for potential high level private sector hires with his decisions. I had high expectations when I first heard of him, but unfortunately what happened happens.
Only thing I would agree is GT will never be big tech due to the design, but u can at least be something that is constantly modelled by the rest of world government tech teams
