The guest identified the problem my friend.
To elaborate, I meant you are chasing after the qualifications and hands on experience thinking that it will grant you your wish. Looking at how long you have been in the company already, chances are this route wont work for you. I know it sounds logical you should have the opportunity given the paper and hands on experience but in reality there are many more reasons why some people get the job and some don't.
For example, we have an internal position that is currently open. On the front we have ads and agencies looking for that position but if I were to refer someone to my HOD I am 100% sure that person is going to be guaranteed an interview and probably a +40% of getting hired for the role.
Knowing someone and making that person likes you, trust you goes a VERY VERY long way in climbing the corporate ladder and getting things done. These are life skills that companies look for, especially in management positions where you need to be able to influence people and departments to work together.
Which is what I meant by getting to know your management and the key stakeholders. This to me is the active way to showcase your abilities and likeability rather than chasing the paper and hoping someone will notice.
Hope this helps!
