You know that they won't promote you to a degree level position down the road right? Because they are looking for someone to work in that dip position, if they do hire you, they probably expect you to work in that position at least in the next 3-5 years.

Public sector don't seem to recognise private degree, and I'm worried they might not want to pay more for a degree person in diploma position thus affecting my chances of getting an interview.
