You cannot go home straight after your class ends. You have to stay until the official knock off time. The working life at poly is not that simple and free. Teaching is only 50% of the job scope.

There're many meetings and admin work to clear after the classes and we often have to bring our work home to do at night. Of course, it depends on one's time management skill. In addition to academic workload like teaching, supervising students' projects and setting test papers, you will be asked to organise events, do industry project, organise trips etc. There're problematic students and parents to handle too. Nowadays, people have less respect for the teachers.

One has to return to work everyday during the holiday unless one applies for annual leave.

Many colleagues said their workload at the poly is equivalent to their workload in private sector but poly pays them less. Poly definitely doesn't pay as well as MNCs in the private sector. Its benefits are job security and satisfaction if you love nurturing the youths (well behaved and nasty ones included).
