Why would you think working part-time is "stooping down" to such a level when working at a call centre to you is not considered as "stooping down"? "Part-time", as the name says.. is just part-time. Of course you are going to be still actively looking for a job while you do the part-time - the part-time is just to make ends meet.
Most people would rather chose to do part-time if they can learn something from it while seeking for a job at the same time.. than to just accept a call centre job. Don't really learn much at a call centre except soft skills which I guess is still important nowadays.
@previous poster - pretty obvious why she was fired.. probably overpaid. Why hire a uni grad for a call centre job which even diploma/
ITE/FTs can do easily ?
