I think that in this day and age where many of us coming to retirement age would be well educated, widely travelled and quite plugged in to technology and tech gadgets, busying ourselves in retirement would be a breeze. As you pointed out, many would have some investment portfolio built up.

Although I am still a few years away from retirement I had already lined up a list of thing to do in retirement.

First of, I will continue to play my golf games. I will probably play more on weekdays than weekends. I will also continue with my weekly tennis games.

I would "manage" my investment portfolio, although most likely I would just probably check out which stock is paying its dividend and tallying up my collection for each month - as what I am doing now. And instead of going through my agent, I will manage my investment property myself, dealing with and collecting rent from the tenant.

Ok, that would not take up all of my waking hours.

I have planned to do a bit of traveling, but those are short term and I am not exactly a traveling person having travelled extensively in my job.

If I have grandchildren I might help look after them but again I don't see myself as their baby sitter nor their chauffeur.

Hmm, I may have a problem fighting boredom as I don't have a sustainable and consuming hobby.

Can i check with those whom have retired or going to retire, aside from financial planning, did you do any other plans ? eg how u going to spend your time, where will you be, kids family ?

I think the financial part i am ok, so not really keen to hear on that part.
I just cant figure out what i am going to do with so much time.
