is it? I remember someone mentioned that there is no consistency to micron's salary package. I would think that it is a free market and it is fair that they make you the offer that you asked for. They might have put you through the 3 interviews partly because you have asked for a relatively lower salary. Even if they were to offer you something higher, I would think that they will likely give you degree level salary; because you asked for 3k and anything above that will be a comfortable level for you. Though there is no wrong in asking for 3k, I really discourage such action and condemn market spoiler. Imagine if people like you asking for 3k, how bout the fresh local grads? Now I realize why many engineering friends have given up engineering and gone into finance and biz.
