No one is better than the other, both are consulting and under strategy and consulting. Depends on what you like and prefer. But I would say, if you’re aiming for wider knowledge or aiming for MBB or strategy consulting in long term, probably functional consulting aspect specialisation may benefit you more as you have a broader experience and skill sets across various industries and clients. You can even explore other opportunities. As for industry consulting aspect specialisation, the consultants tend to specialised in a specific industry for example capital markets, then their clients would only be from this group such as banks. If you think about it, MBB don’t just focus one one client base, so it’s always good to have broader client experience. But end of the day depends on what you like lah and what your goal is, some people somehow prefer to work with clients from specified field.
