They will only roster you to do night shift when you have passed your competency. Definitely you have to be competent enough, otherwise if your boss just pushes you to do night when you haven't pass, your boss will get into trouble should anything happen during your shift, eg release wrong patient results. You won't get to do night shift so early, I would say at least a few months of training. For my section, it takes at least 1 year to be fully trained in all benches.
Anw, you won't be asked to work alone straightaway on your first night shift, definitely your boss will ask a senior to tag along you as guidance.
