Read the first post of this thread? This includes ib/m&a, private equity, hedge funds, vc, long-only am, trading, research etc.

To be frank, I have never heard of any peers or people in my firm referring to themselves to be in high finance though. Probably an obscure term used by finance oldies last time or IB/ hedge fund / other wannabes to make them sound more obnoxious than they already are
