In DPM your clients are HNW aka more atas retail clients that are mostly unsophisticated and have minimal understanding of finance. They are main risk averse and the objective is mostly to preserve wealth than to make money. Even if you smoke them they also dk

In a real buy side jobs your clients are mostly asset owner, mostly institutional. They will have an in house allocation team that are well educated and sophsiticated and the expectations will be much higher.
