If you go in with the mindset of trying to earn big bucks and make partner in the shortest time possible, then you’ll end up quite frustrated, especially if there’s a mismatch in your capability and the scope of work. Throw in the curveballs of life and you’ll realise it’s not always that smooth in practice. The only people have it really smooth (so far) are those valedictorian or adrian clark memorial prize winner. Everyone else typically hustles till natural attrition occurs.
Yup, I think law is a good generalist degree. The problem with Singapore is that law school curriculum is too practice oriented but at the same time, no curriculum can ever be practice oriented enough because 75% of what a lawyer does is learnt on the job.

What I think we should do is drastically expand the intake of law in Singapore, and make it like a generic social science degree like they do in the UK or Australia with 30+ law schools. Merge with FASS better.

Then let the market sort out those who make the cut as practising lawyers. One further step is to allow non-law grads to become lawyers after taking a conversion course, like in the UK.

The rest who don't make the cut can go compete for all other jobs with business and arts/social science grads.
