Well the truth is tech consulting people dont ever need to be very technically proficient. They just need enough to get by the planning and strategy with clients and outsource the tech implementation to offshore which clients are perfectly ok with.
Instead, contrary to popular beliefs, the skills that tech consulting people need are actually understanding how to mix and match different tools and integrate them into the existing solution architecture while also knowing the cost and benefits, technical limitations, how they can better match user/business requirements while doing so.
