1) your job application and HR phone screening interview for new company was done when you are still serving notice period in current job. (ie left without a job)

2) new company HR asked how long is your notice period during the phone screening interview and you mentioned 1 month during the first round interview. (technically you are still in the current job)

3) but the new company HR took 1 month later to come back to setup the 2 rounds interviews after you finished serving notice in current company

4) you didnt further update anything else as she only asked if you are still keen to explore on this role

5) interview was set up and you went ahead with it. during the first round interview, the hiring manager only asked abt your older job movements and didnt probe in more about if you are still currently at your latest job as the cv she had on hand while talking to you is not updated

6) you got passed the first round and second round interview has been set up and you are waiting to attend.

at this point what will you do and when will you do?
will you take the time to tell the new HR your updated status in between? you know eventually you will need to explain.

new company doesnt know you left current job.. yet. and you have already thought of a proper answer to explain your case.
