yes you are right for my case. i do abit of shares investment as well but i still feel getting a property, something physically there is safer.
that's why i only aim for cheaper freehold property, cheap and "forever" mine.
just to share also for many ppl who invested in property
eg.
property price - 600k
downpayment + stampduty (28%) - 168k
while you service ur loan (2k per mth), u start to collect rental of say $1700 per mth. include monthly maintenance fee and yearly tax.. u probably top up about 8k a year.
say 10 years later the property appreciate by 150k
ur total investment = 168k + 80k
return = 750k - remaining loan of about 330k - miscellenous about 10k - agent fee about 15k = 400k
so in total u invested 250k and get back 400k after 10yrs
