In this climate, job security is most important. Being jobless for long periods can really hurt self-esteem. No point being a high wage earner and then being made redundant in this market. The psychological barrier to accepting a pay cut for the next role can be daunting. Does your role involve some legal function or is it non-legal related? I heard compliance pays well so that might be the role you wish to gravitate for long term wage growth.
