I am in the same situation as you. I graduated from another discipline and am now in the early childhood education field. I am taking the Early childhood dip part time. I was offered 1.3k starting pay and in a year it was subsequently raised to 1.75k. Many of my classmates in the dip course are also getting around 1.1-1.2k. I suggest you look for other kindergarten/childcares who'll offer a higher pay. Ask for at least 1.6k, they should be willing to give if you have 5 Os and at least a B in EL. Good luck!
