Salesman If I were you, don't indicate expected salary. Since HR already knew your verbal salary expectation. Just go ahead with the interview and see how it goes.

If the interviewers were interested in you, they will ask again your expected salary. Disclose your expectation, being the lower end at the salary you have disclosed to the HR. When it comes to actual discussion again, just tell them frankly you would be more comfortable in between your previous salary and lower end of your expected salary.

I am sure they will consider if you are a good candidate. But most importantly, do well in your interview to have such negotiation opportunities. If not, even you are willing to work for them free of charge, they will not take you in if you do not suit their selection criteria.

Ace your jobs and good luck to you.

Guess HR doesn't want to call in a candidate with expected salary too far off for an interview.

Agree. Better to secure the job if u are jobless. Then u can apply to other jobs while u are employed. Employers prefer it

My last company is known to pay better than the current company I am applying to.
  • HR later called back again to confirm an interview and gave me the application form that asks for my expected salary again.
  • Can I now quote a higher figure and take a lower pay cut without getting into trouble with the hiring manager/HR?
