This is back in the day 20 yrs ago where scholars are still a rare breed. Of course there is room for promotion even for farmers. Now there are entire teams filled with scholars. Good luck trying to stand out as a farmer.

At least you should try private sector first then apply as mid-career. This way you have a better career progression.

Unregistered Anyone find the quality of scholars dropping in recent years?
I find the “older” scholars more proactive and can understand issues faster whereas the newer scholars are more passive and seems to want to do the minimal only
