Diploma starting pay has stagnated for the last 15 years actually. Even degree also barely kept up with inflation.

Unregistered yucks 1.9k for a techie is so low... i was drawing 1.8k in my first job after finishing ns and thats like close to 10 years ago. too many competition from foreign workers now.

hauntedd Yes i've already met them up and found out information about it. I'll be under the company directly so probably the agent isnt taking a monthly cut from my pay, the company will pay the servicing fee.

About the under table part, that's a genuine question. I've heard about it happening for part time jobs, but none for full time jobs yet. That's why i asked. The answer could be a simple yes or no, i don't understand why people have to start telling me to grow up or try to downgrade me and try to put me in my place. Respect is something many lack here i guess?

So from what i've read so far, the answer is no, the HR won't jeopardize any relationship with the agent and do that. Thank you, that's all i needed to know for now.

So have you found out what exactly is the nature of your contract and what are your considerations?

hauntedd Wow, someone's a salty little baddie. Typical singaporean mindset, no respect for anyone younger than them, you only consider age and work experience as everything. Sorry to say things change, this is not 1970s where everyone needs to have a bad experience working or force yourself to mature the moment you get your first job.

Unregistered if u find the pay ok then accept, if not just reject. why keep thinking of doing under the table things like terminating contract then secretly getting back the job!? u just finish ns got no exp or skills, who is going to entertain u for such childish crap?

plz wake up in the working world. this is not school or ns where u happy happy chut pattern here & there.

Unregistered Typical shift allowance should range from 600 to 1000. The offer isnt good at all if you do the sum.

It depends on your employment letter. Most of the contractor agency work by signing a contract with the agency and another supplement contract saying you are seconded by the agency to the employer. Interview will be done by the employer cauz they at least have to like you before they allow the agency to contract you to them.

Your payroll and main employment letter has to be from the employer itself, otherwise you are considered a contractor from the agency.

Under the table stuff only happens for middle & above level positions, no employer is going to jeopardize the relationship with the agency and expose themselves to lawsuits for a entry level blue collar worker. Industry practice is you must quit the agency & cool off for 6 months before the employer can hire you direct.

First thing you should do is to clarify whether your headcount is the employer or the agency side. And join on the basis that you are ok with the 1.9k + 140 package, don't fantasize about the company pulling stunt on your behalf to up your pay after a few months, nobody will be bothered to do such things for a poly freshie technician.
