Actually, it is a very fair question to ask. Organising an overseas trip for students involves a significant amount of advance planning and administrative work. During the trip, liability falls squarely on the accompanying teacher's shoulders. And given students' nature, the likelihood of someone fooling around and getting into trouble despite all of the teacher's precautions is nontrivial.

So given all these considerations, it is entirely reasonable for a teacher to do the cost benefit analysis - is all the hassle and potential liability worth the reward both professionally and from an educational perspective.

Let's not be quick to call each other's conviction and professionalism into question where such important issues are at stake.

work

MOE is a day-job, the real bread will be from tuition.
the amount of money from tuition is easily more than the take-home pay of MOE, at GEO level. and you get to enjoy mental well-being, plus in control of time.

I don't think people really believe that teachers are immortal or never fall sick.

But some teachers do get the tendency to lapse into the Doctor Quack mode and assume that some are trying to chao keng.

It depends on the trip outcome. If well received, then good for you.
If it went badly, you may have to take some blame.

expose on mothership, probably the whole world will be on you. this forum is so full of misinformation that outsiders take everything stated here with a pinch of salt. only those who know, would know.

the use of fear mongering even on anonymous forums reflects how certain individuals are so keen to promote toxic culture in school environment.
Doxxing occurs when an individual or entity publishes the personal information of a person or people related to him (e.g. relatives, friends or colleagues) in order to harass, threaten or facilitate violence against them.

Personal information refers to information that can be used to identify the person, such as photographs or videos, contact details, or information about the person’s employment, education and family.

I know we're mostly teachers here but some of you are so stupid it's not even funny.

Unregistered No, please do not take MCs as and when you feel you like it.

I am one such teacher who tries to go to school everyday even though I am not feeling well, provided it is not contagious. Reason is because I don't like to catch up with what the relief teacher can't fulfilled and the marking becomes a nightmare when they did not teach properly. I rather go to work and endure until school dismissal, then go home earlier to rest.

Also, when you take MC like nobody's business. Sometimes, when I endure and go to school, I still have to take over somebody's class as a relief teacher. Please think of it as a whole organisation, be kind to your colleagues.

Unless, one time day, CISCO and AETOS can take over as relief without additional work load from other teachers who dutifully report to work.
