I would like to qualify that working for so many hours is only feasible or possible if you donít have kids or anyone to care for. And being an FAJT and a private tutor means that you are freelance worker or self-employed in the eyes of the banks so if you need to take up loans eg. Housing loans, you are at a disadvantage. When I last enquired, to take up a $250k loan, you only need $5k to qualify monthly salary as a salaried worker but you need $9k monthly income as a self-employed as they would take a hairline cut off your annual income to assess your eligibility of loans.

So it really depends on which stage of your life you are at.

And for tuition, some parents request for tutors to be of a certain age group eg. below 30, below 40. So itís not something that I foresee myself doing or having many students when I am older.

On a good month when lessons are more consistent, my tuition income is $6k to $8k+. MY FAJT pay is $5k+ to $6k+ (Gross).

I honestly enjoy it. It makes me feel fulfilled and productive.

My last pay before I quit teaching full time was about $6k gross.

It looks like I earn a lot more than I was a full-time but I donít have holiday pay (June and December) and bonuses and Connect Plan.

Do you earn more as compared when you were a full time
staff? I realize this is taking into account the
cancellations that tuitions & flexi work are prone to.
Thank you for sharing.

As for where you're likely to be emplaced toÖ can hope for anecdotal sharing to be done if anyone here has experiences, but you're probably better off checking with HR directly.
I see, thanks a lot!

Thank you for sharing, youíre right, I would have most probably choose to do so few years back, to do research in an academic organization overseas, yet now considering my parentsí age, their unwillingnesses to move overseas and the fact that I had been given so little time to them, and especially after my uncle passed away so suddenly in just late 50 while 4 of his children all stayed overseas and couldnít be back due to the pandemic, my mind has changed anyway, and honestly, Iím actually quite happy with the fajt teaching, I mean without the admin and cca, which makes me feel like what Iíve been thought of as a teacher before I first joined, just that I also worried if it could be stable enoughÖ
