Unregistered Foe E&Y , My friend (not close friend ) is a SM at E&Y and boasted they are on the list of potential partners. What exactly is this and does it mean everyone on the list makes partner- how soon?

Unregistered For EY, can SM progress to partner directly or must go through AD-> D-> partner

Ernst and Young Advisory

Should not join E&Y management consulting team. Our culture sucks. The partners only focus on hiring Malaysians and children of their friends for important roles and cushy projects with international exposure, even though these people are not that capable. One white horse FT guy who can't even speak Chinese got a nice assignment in China. FML. The poor, no connection, Singaporeans are assigned to lousy projects in the military camps and lame government engagements. Bottom line is, if you don't know the important people, or if you are not a Foreigner Talent, it is hard to do well in this firm! Many of my friends have jumped ship to other firms, and I plan to join them soon!

Associate Director - D2

I have an offer from (4 letter word big4) which shows title as Associate Director (D2) - would anyone know what is meant by D2 - IS it some grading/ ranking - if yes, then what is the grading structure.

The salary offered is 12K including CPF, is it at par with industry standards of big4 in Singapore. The role is in consulting function possibly RC/MC

I need to respond on this offer, request your help in getting some insight

Profit sharing is just another type of bonus, all accounting firms will have them in some form. The main thing is how much bonus does it pay ever year?

The senior partners get paid bonuses USD2mil upwards easily whereas for your average Singapore "Director" if you can get USD100k is already star performer in very good year.

I use to work in the payroll outsourcer for one of the big4 here & I can tell you in their SG office the number of ppl who get paid >US$500k a year is less than 10 and none of them exceed US$1mil. Dun be fooled by their titles and act big arrogant attitude.

Base on my exp, if you compare a partner in a big4 in SG with a local MD in a foreign bank, the bank MD make at least 1x higher.

Your friend prob too junior to know the full structure or trying to big cannon you. For most ppl a Director / jr partner is the highest person they ever see, so they confuse between title and actual rank.

KPMG has like 2500+ Directors and maybe 1000+ junior partners worldwide, how can there be so many senior management?

Unregistered Manager - Senior Manager - Associate Director - Director - Partner

Each grade has multiple years, eg manager is 4 years (M1, M2, M3, M4), then you get promoted to SM

All those fancy titles like director, jr partner etc are just low to mid level managers.
