Unregistered IT manager in bank is considered very senior and close to management level. they typically have 6 to 10 years experience minimum. The pay you see is justifiable.

analysts, associates and senior associates are the lower levels. IT analyst getting paid like 8K should have minimum 5 years experience for singaporeans, or lesser for expat.

IT analyst in local banks like DBS, UOB or OCBC getting 8K is almost impossible. For foreign banks, it is possible if you factor in the huge bonus.

IMHO IT in banks is not as stressful as front-office.

i was the one who started that thread. i got this piece of info from my fren, so shd be quite accurate. just that i did not dig further what kind of analyst.

so ya maybe IT analyst will not be commanding so high salaries, but how much different can it get? give and take a few ks, 7k to 8k for an IT analyst is still pretty awesome.

anyone know anything abt it? is life really stressful?

cslee According to MOM benchmarking tool on Benchmarking Tools

IT managers (e.g. computer & network ops mgr) in finance industry are paid about ~$10K median and $15K at 75% percentile. The figures are like 50% higher than other industries.

If pay so high, every IT manager would all "chiong" to banks. What's the catch? Any insiders to share?

Unless you are talking about those 'front office' analyst, I seriously doubt IT analyst can be paid that much. Banks are not stupid, they will not pay you 11k if their nearest competitors only pay you ~6k(because you will take their offer anyway if they offer you 6.5k)

good luck!
what about local banks like ocbc and uob? would IT jobs there be more stable?

Unregistered concur with PP.

now, IT and Finance are not good areas to be in. all being "rightshored" to India, Philippines.

In fact, SG getting too expensive to a point that many European banks find it more sense to bring those services back to Europe, specifically Poland - closer to their timezone, perception that there is no language barrier. Not to mention you can hire a fresh grad in Krakow for SGD800.
