Unregistered Domestic banks pay analysts ±4k. Foreign BB banks may pay about double that. Just to get that out of the way.
Re: the OP's situation, you're credentially inferior, unfortunately. I'm a fresh IBD analyst at a global BB and pedigree really does matter in this business. My peer group hail from NUS, Imperial, LSE (my Alma mater), Oxford and Cambridge, and various American equivalents. One or two big name internships on your CV are also essential, as is having some sport or society leadership experience. Bottom line: you won't get in from the bottom, although this is not to say you never will. Good luck.

Unregistered Please don't waste our time applying in the hopes that you've got even a shot at what many would deem to be one of the toughest industries to break into. No decent bank would hire from the pool that they call SIM, and even fewer will take a look at your CV unless it hails from the ranks of the Ivies/Oxbridge. Have a good day. And make new plans.

Unregistered Hi,

Do you have any connections within the industry or someone who can help you in? If not.. Are you have outstanding achievements during your RMIT days or possess stellar results? Have you done any internship in an IB or boutique CF firm? If... no.. Good luck trying to find CF for your first job. You need lots of luck. Lots.

I'll be brutually honest with ya, if you possess none of the above. Your odds is so slim, it's like striking toto (group 1 or 2) maybe. CMFAS 4A won't help, because firms will pay for people they hire to take it. Even if you have it, makes no difference and doesn't give you an edge at all. CFA lvl 1 won't help too.

Meanwhile, wouldn't hurt for you to go read up what being an corporate finance analyst truly is. Then find a job which you can work your way towards CF. If you want it bad enough you will find out how. If not, you don't belong.

Fresh in Corporate Finance

Hi guys,

just wanted to know where a fresh SIM RMIT grad in Econs & Finance could start for a career in corporate finance. (Heard the pay is decent, everyone wants a good pay)

What can be done to beef up a resume? Any particular modules from CMFAS or perhaps FPAS that one could take?

Or is there another line which might have a better pay?

Many Thanks
