first of all, what do u want to do when u graduate? want to go in finance, but want to take chem for? economics people normally end up in analyst roles, front office. but again, how likely are economists likely to get hired? u can get better opportunities with a degree in finance. why don't study in the place with higher chances of entering the industry. go to uk to study, material is all uk-based, sure you can get job there when u grad? same for canada. australia also has a decent finance sector, u might want to consider. u might also want to consider prospects in chemistry when u return to sg. |

Thanks all for offering your insights....I shall think it through my bmt recourse LOL. Feel free to continue your debates here, I certainly wont mind listening to more opinions . 1 qn, isit easier than in to get good honours in NTU acct than in NUS? considering large student population (600+ VS 200+ in NUS) and the fact that I know ALOT of ppl entering nbs with <85 rank points. (Not implying anything, just saying it would statistically be in my favour to obtain good honours) I heard NTU awards good honours to a higher percentage of the students too. Can someone confirm this? Being a pragmatic asshole here lolol |

Unregistered | Well, you seem to have passion for the sciences. I say go for chem at UCL/ICL. So much better than here. Rankings much higher and prospects would be better as well. Especially if you decide to move on to post-grad, NTU and NUS will most definitely take you in if your grades are okay and coming from such a prestigious school.

I still remain rather undecided :/ should I : 1) Apply for Econs at both UCL n LSE and face high chances of rejection...then just guai guai go to NUS OR 2) Apply for Chem at UCL & Imperial and face uncertainty (considering that i do not wish to pursure a career in science) with a science degree but backed by the international branding and prestige of the Unis. As for NUS, Accounting or Business? Sooo many questions :/ |

On the other hand at Warwick (1 place behind UCL), 25% gets 1st class alone :O. Think it has something to do with the bell curve system in NUS. UK Unis seem to generally set 1st class mark at 70% |

Unregistered | Branding of the Uni matters to a certain extent but not totally. Say if a grad from a top uni didn't do as well VS a grad who did well from a 2nd tier uni, I will consider the 2nd grad cos that student has shown that he/she has ability to do well in what he/she does. But this is just one factor, there are many areas that an employer will consider during selection.
