Darkzi0n bumped into a sec sch friend in public service networking. she is in ntu chem eng.. so i was quite surprise she was there... from wat she said... onli the better one get into the lucrative oil n gas sector.... the others are jus like everyone else... wont earn big bucks despite going through such a difficult course.

if u jus wan a deg, den go for biz... is much easier compared to chem eng.

Unregistered NUS chem engin is ranked 6th in the world according to QS rankings. Its very up there. I've heard a lot of Chen engin grads working in the petrochem field. Hence they make a lot of money and competition for the course is very tough. Not to mention research in chemical engineering is booming at this moment. A lot of focus is on materials that chemical engineers can develop. You will literally be on the forefront in tech research.

Chen engin is much more stable in a sense than business. Engineers will never lose demand. You learn a hard science while business is soft skills. A minor in business would actually suffice. With a minor in business, it will complement your Chen engin major. Not to mention business grads are too saturated at this point in time.

NUS Chem Eng vs Business related course

Hi, i need to seek opinion regarding about my education route. Currently, i was offered NUS Chem Engineering, but however I'm considering taking up business relates course. But as said by many, engineering degree allows you to work in finance related sector but not the other way round.

Hence for practical reason, would it be better if i get my chem engin degree first, then study in private uni for business course(I'm interested in banking and finance). Because i think engineering degree provide a better safety net for any jobs as compared to other general degree(Is thus true?) I don't want to take the risk of study business in local uni because i probably won't do very well in that course as I am unfamiliar with it. Also one last thing, why is the cut off for chemical engineering so high as compared to other engineering degree. Is three any particular reason? Thanks.
