Huh? I think I have already made my point previously that I would be going for accountancy. It's just that after reading so much, my feelings were stirred halfway through. It is because after being through so many years of education, you are being judged by your grades. Hence, it makes me ponder if I am able to do well for accountancy even when I poured all my hardwork into it as you know, most business modules are subjective.

It seems that working adults are more exposed to the society and thus, recommend me to study something which has more stability. For undergrads, I guess its because studying something I was not exposed to would pose a certain risk which may cause me to fail.

Both careers have their pros and cons. But somehow more importantly, I think that confidence and interest for the course is more important than everything else. Because if I plan to study something I don't have any confidence in, it shows that I plan to fail.

I think I should take some time to think about this after seeing the what previous poster wrote about the importance of grades...

Totally agree. I don't understand why people still have this bad thinking about engineers. You guys see engineer ppl being stuck as an engineer role and forgotten about the engineers who moved up into management role.

For chem eng, at least I can start 2 years early by reading on my own(as now im still in ns), which I stand a higher chance of getting good honours. For chemical engineer, do they usually work in office or outside the working site(like patrolling around the power plants etc).

Anyway, thanks for the insightful reply(I wished I discovered this forum earlier lol).
That's the main problem. For chem engine, if you can mug, you can get good results. For biz, u have to rely on ur project mates and luck on answering the qsn. With the same amount of effort u have put in, scoring a perfect score for biz is impossible compared to chem engine despite the diffculty for chem engine.

Your thoughts of chem eng vs accountancy. TS is thinking about EEE vs accountancy.

Your chem eng prospect vs EEE prospect is totally on different level.

If I were you, I would choose something I like. This is because both of your choice are good although chemical engineering is an engineering course. Doing well is the next best option I would choose if I were you.

However, if I were the TS, i would choose Accountancy for the prospects. However, I worry for TS because TS came from electronics background where he might be better off doing EEE and get first class honours. It would be bad for him to score badly for accountancy.

Money is important. But getting good grades is even more important. Imagine you got a merit for accountancy degree. The employer might just skip your resume and proceed with the next one although its a good course.

How are you going to show your true potential when you can't even land yourself a job?

DAMN! you are actually an elite! Dont be humble! TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE! Go for it!!

since you are so smart, dont waste it! dont settle for a normal chemical engineering when you can take up an double degree. I cant even smell it! lol.

Go to this website BrightSparks - Singapore's Scholarship, Higher Education and Career Portal, LOTS OF SCHOLARSHIP WITH TOP COMPANIES!! With your results, you confirm can get into top UK university and 1st class wont be an issue to you. JC student sure got good communication skill, scholarship interview confirm pass!!

you still got time to explore your options!!

well, i;m still studying at NTU EEE! so I can tell how university life is about. you will be able to meet different type of human being like backstabbers, leechers but there are still good people around.

You need to be in top few % to be able to obtain an A/B+ to maintain a first class or 2nd upper honor.

Both courses are comparable. Chemical Eng take in student with AAA/B & GPA of 3.92 while Business take in JC student with AAA/A & GPA of 3.86.

I can said that all students who managed to get in these 2 courses are all top students and super smart. Together with FTs. You can expect strong competitions.

getting a good result will depends on your hardwork and determination. all the best! Unless you can go oversea uni which you 100% guarantee + chop will get a first class honor in BIZ . if not good luck!
