That's because too many predecessors like you have exploited the system and caused a depression of wages for Singaporeans, on top of taking away job opportunities from them. Is it not right/logical for any companies situated at any country to consider the locals as first priority?

my division is closing down by this year end, we are told to look for job, and bosses actually help a lot as part of the outplacement support. my division is a R&D division there are ME and EE engineers total about 40++ engineers, while among 13 of the firmware engineers, 9 of us already found a job within 1.5 months .. but the other discipline is ..hmmm not so easy..

hope you put faith in our profession, if computing is not the future engineering, bio?

Unregistered If you want pay, then best find a job in one of the banks. You may even learn a bit, but most likely you'll do very few software tasks and spend most of your time doing time management.

If you get lucky, you'll become a project manager.

In Singapore, there's very few jobs allowing someone to become a true software professional with good pay. For that, you have to go to western countries.

poor and stupid Very nice!

I am from the R&D dept, i do fw/sw/hw and yes it is SUPER EASY to find job. No joke, almost every resume you send out for embedded design positions will get you an interview and swiftly a pay offer.

Why?

Because the pay is peanuts. Embedded engineers (less linux / unix gurus) are the lowest paid engineers out there. Project engineer needs lesser skill and they get paid more lolx

I didnt join a hell lot of companies to know this, but i sure get a lot of pay offers(food stamps)...

How much can an firmware engineer earn? What's the starting pay and what's the typical pay at 10-year, 20-year milestones in the career? Thanks for sharing.

A lot of experience, but still super noob at java? Pre-sales!

Not happy? The boss can just post a "task" at freelancers and pay half the price.

that not fair

Is it not in Singapore's nature to embrace diversity and is it not it's core attribute to encourage and identify merit wherever it lies?
