If you are comparing to bookkeeping, like A/P or A/R execs working their way up to FM, then to AFC, etc etc, depending on factors like how good you are, how generous your firm is, then the progression is high. But do understand that Big 4s are mainly populated with auditors, a job scope far different from an accountant. You basically have to be the jack of all trades. |

How does big4 salaries help you determine if your salary now is "fair"? You going to your boss to demand for a "fair" increment "assuming no OT for accountant" and benchmarking yourself to a job that has nothing to do with your situation? Lame. |

Big 4 and no OT doesn't go together. It's impossible. the reason why most people stay only a few years in the big 4 is because the hours are long and they burnout. So that assumption is not valid in the 1st place, and that's the only comment. if you are not even in accounting and doesn't do OT why benchmark against the big 4? So what the salary is transparent? It's like a bus driver benchmarking against a pilot? You need to think more ............. |

You guys (above) seriously need to start thinking more and reading properly. Seriously. I am not an accountant. My purpose of citing a big 4 salary/increment is due to the transparency of its salary. This would allow people (like me) to find out what a fair yearly increment is. If I do not state the assumption, you guys would say oh, it isn'ta fair comparison/accountants earn peanuts due to OT. So in order to remove such comments I added the assumptions. |

It wouldn't if we are talking about basic salary without commission. The assumption is merely to put numbers what people may think is a good progression/increment is. |
