Unregistered I heard of this too. I dont understand why are they here. Too competitive over there? or the market is too limited there?

A few of my Indian friends (from India) confirm that living standards in India can indeed by higher than Singapore. The pay that they get here will allow them to hire a few maids, a chauffeur, buy a big house, send their kids to good schools --- basically live like a rich man in India.

Moreover, they don't have to work here to get this kind of pay. Back in India, there are many jobs that pay EQUIVALENT or even higher pay for the kind of skills they have (which is not much by our standards).

So the question begs: why are they still here competing with our young graduates for well paying jobs?

similar situation is faced by me, unless you keep hopping jobs you dont get increment. with single earning things can be difficult. buying hdb would be excellent idea for you since you have pr. i cannot since i dont have pr. my sal is nearly 7k with commission but pr got rejected. you need nearly 100-150k for 3-4 room hdb and around 150-170k for exec hdb.
emi is going to come down to 900-1500 depending on what size you go for.

you must be paying rent of around 2000- 2200 $ so you will save on that.

also if you are falling short of cash. to arrange for 100-150 k
cpf can be utilized and also take some personal loan which banks are ready to lend upto 6 months salary for 5% interest which is still reasonable. the interest will only be around 1200-2000$ which is just one month rent.

..I know our friends back in india are having better life having cars and condos, and earning equivalent to us or more. but they are also subject to horrible traffic jams and frustration due to time lost on roads every day. we human beings are designed to be unhappy in any given situation.

we asked for this so lets face it.

if you are new, maybe 3k? it's low because you have no prior experience (it's a career switch) and you will be competing with lots of new comers who, like it or not, are much younger than you. and i'm sure there will be foreign talent from the western countries competing with you for the same job as well. just like in HK, people here in singapore has a strange penchant for all things western. you may call them 鬼佬 but we call them foreign talent! (i simply assume you are chinese - sorry if i'm wrong.)

i believe you will also need at least some form of certification.
