On a side note, I think many tech companies pay more than $17k for senior software devs

I think its ridiculous that a Big 4 JP earns less than a software dev when they work so much harder to have survived to that stage. Its more a reflection of how low local law firm pay is.

Only the Silver Circles give you something as low as 3PQE =15k

Magic circle = 15k for NQ assoc
Mid-Atlantic US firms = 17-19k NQ assoc
Cravath US firms = 24k NQ assoc
