Unregistered Poor and Stupid,

U r a R&D engineer? In which company? U have bachelor degree or Masters or Doctorate? I thought R&D engineer earns a lot?

I work as a maintenance engineer. Pay is normal (market rate). But bonus not bad, can get up to 5 months (excluding AWS).

we all know engineering is s****. its a good course, the training is good, but don't go work in engin line. sux. for me i left some time ago, ya.. i was in r&d at a*. unless u conform a certain way, won't go far. anyway.. rant off.

Its great that you are interested in your job. I have to admit, the grass is not greener on the other side, but maybe it has lesser predators on that side?

I have no idea why engineers, who can swap jobs with almost any other position and adapt faster than others are paid peanuts.

Maybe we (the engineers in singapore(ya, i am rnd eng)) should collectively take non engineering courses and change job!!

Think twice

I also engineer. I feel overworked and pay is nothing to shout about. Working late nights are common & expected. However my job, though hard, is interesting. I always think of quitting, but after reading all these postings, I am finding that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Need to think twice before making decision

The thing is, some jobs are really harder to earn then others....

But again harder is defined differently from others, some may think sales is hard/easy, technical is hard/easy, muscle power is hard/easy but i think the hardest job is amongst the engineering technical research side.

ashley i think everyone is like quitting their jobs nowadays... my good frd jsut tendered to go into own business after thinking bout quitting for 4 yrs! and when he did so, we were like finally!!

Holy ****! I am also r&d engineer in oem/odm industry

True story! i am also an R&D engineer in the oem industry, pay like **** (up to 35%) lower than the average project engineer and somemore much more technical demanding, sometimes i wonder wtf? everyone so pro meh
