STE based a staff salary based on education level. You can be established in your field as a diploma holder with 10 - 15 years of experience and they can offer a sub-5K salary package.

Principal Engineer in STE is M2, E5 is entry level engineer. The headhunter either does not know their requirement or has no idea what your specialisation is by offering you 4 levels below your current paygrade.

No way E5 can match that kind of pay. Need minimum M1. That recruiter is probably mass farming dip holders.
