Yup. Teaching even at university level is not considered working experience in most industries. After teaching at primary or secondary levels for a few years, it will be very difficult to return back to the industry, especially engineering or IT. IMO, don't spend more than 6mths trying out teaching.

fantasista01 With a degree or master, you'll enter at GEO1 which has a ceiling cap at 4.5k or somewhere there about. I think MOE just adjusted it recently.

lchunl this is the same question that i had asked myself prior the application. Answer is, there is no absolute answer. some are "born" with the passion, for myself, it is due to life events that shape my passion..perharps you should go to the lib to find these two books "Heartwork" and "Why Teacher Quit" which may give you some insight to the teaching industry. From what i gathered, it is important to set your mindset correct and dun fantasie about teaching. Some comments i gathered is that teacher is supposed to do only teaching and others work (CCA etc) are considered "unimportant" and hence the resistant to it..

Unregistered Hi, are you trying to do a mid career switch to teaching? Which line were you in?

No, I didn't apply. Not sure if I have the passion in teaching... All the best!
